Learn as much as you can about the workings of the accounting function for it’s the basic tool of doing your job efficiently. Equally, the role of credit, finance and related disciplines often drive (albeit behind the scenes) decisions by senior management that dictate how you do your job. Be a sponge, hang out with the bean counters and you’ll be the beneficiary of what you learn.
